200th LNG Carrier arrives at EemsEnergyTerminal
Monday March 24 we marked a special milestone at EemsEnergyTerminal: the 200th LNG carrier arrived at Eemshaven! An impressive moment that underlines just how important the terminal has become for the security of gas supplies in the Netherlands and across Europe.
The presence of minister Stientje van Veldhoven of Climate and Green Growth added extra lustre to this event. During her visit, the focus was on how EemsEnergyTerminal, originally set up as an emergency measure, has developed into a strategic link in the European energy supply. Thanks to the continuous supply of LNG, the terminal contributes to a stable, diverse and resilient energy system in the region.
At the same time, we are looking ahead. The Open Season phase for the extension period from 2028 onwards has now been successfully completed. The intention is for the terminal to remain operational until 2036. A large part has already been contracted, but there is still capacity available.
The remaining capacity is being offered to qualified interested parties on a First‑Come, First‑Served basis. Parties interested in booking capacity under the FCFS mechanism who are not yet registered as a Qualified Interested Party are invited to contact EemsEnergyTerminal via [email protected]. The planned extension of operations remains subject to a positive final investment decision (FID).
