EemsEnergyTerminal donates new pool table to Seafarers Mission Eemshaven
For over 25 years, the Seafarers Mission in Eemshaven has offered seafarers and truck drivers a home away from home. It’s a place where they can relax, chat, or use the Wi-Fi to touch base with those back home. They can also play pool or table tennis or read and swap books.
Appreciating having a place to relax
The international crew members of the EemsEnergyTerminal, who typically stay on board for six to nine months, also greatly appreciate the mission. They welcome having a place to come and relax from time to time. Volunteers from the Seafarers Mission pick them up in the mission’s own minibus and drop them off again later.
New pool table needed
Once while Edwin Kuipers, cluster E&I engineer at EemsEnergyTerminal, and Seafarers Mission volunteer Iwe van der Beek were talking, the mission’s need for a new pool table came up. Edwin brought the matter to the attention of others at EemsEnergyTerminal and the mission now boasts a brand-new pool table.
Dependent on volunteers and donations
Run completely by volunteers, the Seafarers Mission relies on sponsors and on donations from individuals, churches, Groningen Seaports, and the municipality of Het Hogeland. Now EemsEnergyTerminal is also contributing to this worthy initiative. You can read more about the Seafarers Mission here.
